Plenary Meeting in Boras

There have been extensive discussions and meetings with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States on the subject of the allocation of the 77-81GHz band (79GHz) for high resolution automotive radar. In May 2012, Robert Bosch GmbH (on behalf of the 79 GHz project) filed a petition for rulemaking to the FCC to rule and order on the use of high resolution automotive radar in the 79GHz band in the United States. Bosch, CSA 79GHz project partners and other automotive stakeholders reacted in December 2012 on other comments on the 76 and 79GHz proceedings. Till today no official reaction from FCC on the petition on rule changes. The process is ongoing.

We are now waiting for the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to adopt and release a Notice of Proposed Rule Making, proposing to adopt rules permitting the use of the 77-81 GHz band for automotive radar applications in the United States on an unlicensed basis.
