Short overview of the organisation:

ECORYS provides a full range of services, from research and policy advice, through institution building and capacity development, to programme management and implementation, communication and financing advice, and monitoring and evaluation. We have an excellent in-house expertise in several knowledge areas relevant for the assignment, including transport, finance, regional economic development, competition and regulation.

ECORYS’ Transport & Mobility division provides clients with comprehensive analysis and creative solutions in the fields of mobility, infrastructure and logistics covering all modes of transport. We have working experience in key economic, financial, institutional and regulatory aspects of air, road, rail and water transport.

Role in Amitran:

ECORYS was involved in the user requirements analysis, methodology development and the scaling up methodology. ECORYS lead the task aiming at the development of the CBA methodology. ECORYS was also involved in the dissemination and exploitation activities in work package 7 (Dissemination, liaison and exploitation).

Within the work package 2 focusing on User needs and use cases, ECORYS was leader of tasks covering user needs & requirements analysis, and modelling framework.  ECORYS also contributed to the methodological part of the scaling up methodology, especially concerning cost benefit analysis and stakeholders and it was responsible for gathering Dutch traffic statistics. Additionally, ECORYS was involved in the Validation of Impact assessment methodology. 

Other projects (related to Amitran):

ECORYS has extensive experience in participating in European research projects in the area of transport, including 2DECIDE, BE-LOGIC, SPADE-1, SPADE-2, OPAL, THEMIS, MARNIS, PLATINA.

ECORYS is one of the most experienced organisations in Europe using cost-benefit analysis (CBA) for infrastructure appraisal. It is co-author of the Dutch ‘OEI guidelines’ which include mandatory CBA requirements for all large infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. ECORYS has also extensive experience in European CBA studies, both ex-ante (e.g. CBA high speed railway link Porto-Lisbon) or ex-post (over 200 Cohesion fund projects and the EVA-TREN project).

Recently, ECORYS has been involved in the FP7 project 2DECIDE. The projects’ objective was to develop an “ITS Toolkit” to assist transport authorities in the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), to help them solve traffic and transport problems and address policy objectives. The aim was to help authorities to best exploit ITS to address problems such as congestion, accidents or environmental pollution, as well as to improve user services, promote inter-modality and access to information, enhance safety and security aspects, etc.
